Los Altos from the Mountain View side

Los Altos meets Mountain View along Grant Road, Springer Road and the El Camino corridor, and plenty of people cross the line without noticing. On the Los Altos side of that border, the North Los Altos and Woodland Acres streets are packed with 1950s ranch homes that are being replaced one lot at a time. Further south, around Rancho Shopping Center and Loyola Corners, the lots get bigger and the projects get longer, often a year or more from demolition to move-in.

Downtown Los Altos, the triangle of Main Street, State Street and San Antonio Road, hosts the city's street festivals and holiday events. The Los Altos Community Center and Hillview Park area is another common setting, and many families simply throw graduation and birthday parties at home.

How we schedule it

The same Mountain View team covers Los Altos, usually coming in via El Camino Real, Grant Road or Foothill Expressway. One thing many people coming from Mountain View don't expect is that Los Altos allows Saturday work on homes, but only for a short window. Mountain View requires written approval for any weekend work, while Los Altos permits a few Saturday hours. We time weekly service for weekdays so it never competes with your crew's Saturday.

Los Altos hours and event deadlines

For houses, the city's window is 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Commercial jobs can run to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Sundays and city holidays are off-limits, and equipment deliveries count as construction, so a porta potty drop happens inside those hours. A special event application needs to reach the city at least 60 days before the date, and the city won't take one more than a year ahead.

Good fits in Los Altos

  • A handwashing station once finish trades start eating lunch on site.
  • An ADA-accessible unit and standard units for a permitted downtown event.
  • A restroom trailer for a garden party on one of the larger lots south of downtown.
